Make your own wings and new habitats for our collection of wonderful wildlife!

School children engaging with the Wild Escape project!

Come fly with us at the Museum of Gloucester and explore our hidden collection of birds, butterflies and bats! Make your own colourful wings from recycled materials then fly around our field. Fly them home or display them in our special exhibition at the Museum!

Children will have a chance to learn more about the habitats of our winged creatures and think about our changing environment; they will imagine their animal has escaped from the museum and create a new home for them. Their art will become part of our Wild Escape exhibition, an exciting nation-wide project with Sir David Attenborough, the BBC and Museums across the UK.

Children will explore colour and mechanics, matching their plumage and markings with recycled materials (all provided). Then head outside for games like flying rounders… flapping around our field!

Dates/Times

Thursday 13 and Friday 14 April 2023. Two sessions each day: 10-12 midday and 1-3pm.

Places

Max places of 25 children per session. Simply drop in with the whole family at any point in the two hours, be an artist in the gallery, and then fly away home with your wonderful wings!

Prices

£4.50 per ticket

Children will need to be supervised by a parent, but parents do not need to book a space unless they are going to take part in the activities.
