Reviewing the Archaeological Archives Backlog Project opportunity…

The Museum of Gloucester is seeking to work with a suitably qualified and experienced professional in the field of Archaeological archives and depositions to process the backlog of archaeology archives depositions and put us in a viable position to understand the future of collecting archaeological archives.

The Museum works alongside 5 other Museums in Gloucestershire to collect, care for and provide public access to archaeology depositions created due to regeneration and development in the boundary area. Staffing changes have led to a backlog of notifications and a lack of knowledge of the deposition process. There have also been major challenges to IT and increasing pressure on existing storage spaces meaning a thorough understanding of what is outstanding and expected is needed to progress plans and discussions around the future of collecting archaeology depositions.

To find out more about this opportunity and how to apply, please contact elizabeth.johanssonhartley@gloucester.gov.uk

Applications to tender close at midnight on the 5th December
